Services include diagnosis and treatment of the following diseases: stroke (invasive stroke therapy), movement disorders (e.g. Parkinson´s surgery, dystonia), epilepsy (incl. surgery), auto-immune infectious diseases of the central nervous system (in particular multiple sclerosis), neuro-muscular and neuro-genetic diseases, myasthenia gravis, headache, dementia, sleeping disorders. In addition, special emphasis is placed on neurological rehabilitation.
The Clinic has three wards at its disposal, with a total of 73 beds, and provides specialized services in its stroke unit (stroke treatment), the epilepsy monitoring unit as well as the post-acute treatment of neurological patients in phase B and C (neuro-rehabilitation).The neurological emergency outpatient unit cares for acute outpatients.
Specialized departments deal with the diagnosis and treatment of complex neurological diseases at academic level, thus supporting scientific research. Further, they cooperate closely with other clinics (neurological consultant services). In addition, the Clinic of Neurology is tasked with diagnosing brain-dead patients in cases of possible organ transplants.
On average, the Clinic has about 50 doctors. In 2015, 1.835 inpatients and more than 13.500 outpatients received treatment.
